Measuring Delivery against Expectations: NATO Summit and the Eastern Flank

On July 11th, the Future Security and Defence Council (FSDC) hosted an exclusive dinner at Café Milano, coinciding with the NATO Public Forum. The event featured a discussion led by FSDC Chairman Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, supported by former Slovak Minister of Defence Martin Sklenar. Sklenar presented GLOBSEC’s memo on strategic priorities for the Eastern flank, highlighting the urgent need to address deficiencies in operational and industrial capabilities.
The three-hour discussion was attended by 40 distinguished guests, including Poland’s Secretary of State Paweł Zalewski, US Congressman Mike Turner, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) Tod Wolters, Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) Christian Badia, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia/Ukraine/Eurasia Dr. Evelyn Farkas, and other high-level representatives from the private, public, and media sectors. This event marked the third consecutive year of similar summer dinners in DC under the umbrella of FSDC, which some guests called the highlight of their summer engagements due to the quality of discussion and high-level representation from all sectors.
